Q9JXW7 · CRGA_NEIMB

Function

function

Regulatory protein that activates transcription of mdaB, encoding a NADPH:quinone oxidoreductase, and represses its own transcription (PubMed:15866928).
Under the same experimental conditions, no regulation of transcription of pilus and capsule genes is detected (PubMed:15866928).

Caution

In strain 8013 (AC Q9JPU9), CrgA was reported to control the expression of pili and capsule genes. However, Ieva et al. reported that CrgA and MBL have no effect on transcription of pilus and capsule genes in strain MC58 (PubMed:15866928).

Activity regulation

Activation and repression activities are enhanced by the addition of alpha-methylene-gamma-butyrolactone (MBL), an inducer of NADPH:quinone oxidoreductase.
