Function
function
Cleaves the beta-phosphate at the 5-position of soluble inositol pyrophosphates (PubMed:35640071).
Has highest activity on 5-diphosphoinositol 1,2,3,4,6-pentakisphosphate (5-InsP7), 1,5-bis-diphosphoinositol 2,3,4,6-tetrakisphosphate (1,5-InsP8) and 3,5-InsP8 (PubMed:35640071).
Acts as a negative regulator of defense responses against the bacterial pathogen Pseudomonas syringae pv tomato strain DC3000 (PubMed:22514699).

Miscellaneous
Plants overexpressing DSP4 exhibit increased sensitivity to infection by the bacterial pathogen Pseudomonas syringae pv tomato strain DC3000.
Catalytic activity
- 5-diphospho-1D-myo-inositol 1,2,3,4,6-pentakisphosphate + H2O = 1D-myo-inositol hexakisphosphate + H+ + phosphateThis reaction proceeds in the forward direction.
