Acts as a translational repressor. Can mediate repression affecting different steps in the translation process: cap-driven, IRES-driven, polyadenylated RNAs or nonpolyadenylated RNAs. Essential for the development of primordial germ cells (PGCs) by ensuring their proper migration and survival (By similarity).
