Catalyzes the radical S-adenosyl-L-methionine (SAM)-dependent two-electron oxidation of 2-deoxy-scyllo-inosamine (DOIA) to amino-dideoxy-scyllo-inosose (amino-DOI) in the biosynthetic pathway of butirosin.

- 2-deoxy-scyllo-inosamine + S-adenosyl-L-methionine = 3-amino-2,3-dideoxy-scyllo-inosose + 5'-deoxyadenosine + H+ + L-methionine
Cofactor
Note: Binds 2 [4Fe-4S] clusters. One cluster is coordinated with 3 cysteines and an exchangeable S-adenosyl-L-methionine. A second auxiliary cluster is also in contact with the substrate and is proposed to facilitate the loss of the second electron in the oxidation.
