Function

function

Regulates maternal nutrient uptake, sucrose partitioning, and seed biomass yield. Necessary and sufficient for the establishment and differentiation of the endosperm nutrient transfer cells located at the mother:seed interface. Exclusive expression of the maternal allele at the early stages of endosperm development. The maternal allele is hypomethylated. At later stages, expression becomes biallelic. Regulated by the transcription factor MRP1.
