Function
function
Pleiotropic ABC efflux transporter that shows a strong substrate specificity for the azole class of drugs such as lotrimazole (CLT), fluconazole (FLC), itraconazole (ITC), ketoconazole (KTC), posaconazole (POS), econazole (ECON), metconazole (MET), miconazole (MCZ), prochloraz (PCLZ), and tebuconazole (TEBZ).
Catalytic activity
- fluconazole(in) + ATP + H2O = fluconazole(out) + ADP + phosphate + H+This reaction proceeds in the forward direction.fluconazole (in)CHEBI:46081
+ CHEBI:30616 + CHEBI:15377 = fluconazole (out)CHEBI:46081+ CHEBI:456216 + CHEBI:43474 + CHEBI:15378 - itraconazole(in) + ATP + H2O = itraconazole(out) + ADP + phosphate + H+This reaction proceeds in the forward direction.
Activity regulation
The efflux inhibitor FK506 impairs the transport activity.
