- ProteinCaffeic acid 3-O-methyltransferase
- StatusUniProtKB reviewed (Swiss-Prot)
- Amino acids354 (go to sequence)
- Protein existenceEvidence at transcript level
- Annotation score3/5
Function
function
Catalyzes the conversion of caffeic acid to ferulic acid and of 5-hydroxyferulic acid to sinapic acid. The resulting products may subsequently be converted to the corresponding alcohols that are incorporated into lignins.
Catalytic activity
- (E)-caffeate + S-adenosyl-L-methionine = (E)-ferulate + H+ + S-adenosyl-L-homocysteine
Pathway
Aromatic compound metabolism; phenylpropanoid biosynthesis.
