The identification of multiple independent transcriptional pathways that regulate the levels of Ccc1 under high iron conditions accentuates the importance of protecting cells from the toxic effects of high iron
Data suggest that SNF1 deletion acts synergistically with YAP5 deletion to regulate transcription of vacuolar iron importer CCC1 and to regulate iron resistance; SNF1 deletion with MSN2/MSN4 deletion results in additive effects on CCC1 transcription. (SNF1 = sucrose non-fermenting kinase 1; YAP5 = transcription factor YAP5; CCC1 = Ca(II)-sensitive cross-complementer 1; MSN = stress-responsive transcriptional activator)
