ACETYLATION [LARGE SCALE ANALYSIS] AT ALA-2; LYS-5 AND LYS-44, CLEAVAGE OF INITIATOR METHIONINE [LARGE SCALE ANALYSIS], IDENTIFICATION BY MASS SPECTROMETRY [LARGE SCALE ANALYSIS]
Citrullination of HP1gamma is dynamically regulated during mESC differentiation. The citrullinated residues lie within the HP1gamma chromodomain and are important for H3K9me3 binding.
Data indicate that HP1gamma is dispensable for cell cycle exit and normal cardiac growth but has a significant role in maintaining H4K20me3 and regulating a limited number of genes in cardiac myocytes.
HP1gamma is present in the nucleus and the cytoplasm interacting with actin a protein complex that may exert different functions depending on its subcellular localization.
