P0AAF1 · POTE_ECOLI

Function

function

Catalyzes both the uptake and excretion of putrescine. The uptake of putrescine is dependent on the membrane potential and the excretion involves putrescine-ornithine antiporter activity.

Catalytic activity

Activity regulation

Uptake activity, but not antiporter activity, is inhibited by CCCP and N-ethylmaleimide (NEM). Uptake of putrescine is inhibited by high concentrations of ornithine.

Kinetics

KM SUBSTRATE pH TEMPERATURE[C] NOTES EVIDENCE
1.8 μMputrescine (for uptake activity)
73 μMputrescine (for antiporter activity)
108 μMornithine (for antiporter activity)
Vmax pH TEMPERATURE[C] NOTES EVIDENCE
0.82 nmol/min/mgfor antiporter activity

pH Dependence

Optimum pH is 6.5 for uptake activity. Optimum pH is 9.2 for antiporter activity.
