Function
function
An endonuclease that acts in the processing of the 5'-end of 16S rRNA and 23S rRNA. It prefers 5'-monophosphorylated substrates and cleaves single-stranded sites rich in A and U residues; contributes to tRNA processing and mRNA turnover.
Cofactor
Note: Binds 1 Mg2+ ion per subunit.
