Function

function

Promotes cuticle formation by inducing the expression of enzymes involved in wax biosynthesis, particularly promoting very-long-chain waxes formation (PubMed:35696901).
Confers drought resistance (PubMed:35696901).
Acts as a transcriptional activator binding directly to promoter regions of CER2, CER3.2 and KCS1, wax biosynthesis-related genes (PubMed:35696901).
Binds to the GCC-box pathogenesis-related promoter element (By similarity).
May be involved in the regulation of gene expression by stress factors and by components of stress signal transduction pathways (By similarity).

Phenotypes & Variants

Disruption phenotype

Reduced amounts of C24/C32 fatty acids, C32/C34 aldehydes, C32/C34 1-alcohols and C31 alkanes in leaves leading to decreased epicuticular wax level and increased cuticle permeability, thus conferring a reduced drought tolerance.

Variants

We now provide the "Disease & Variants" viewer in its own tab.

The viewer provides 2 variants from UniProt as well as other sources including ClinVar and dbSNP.
