Function

function

Major early protein present in virus factories. The presence of BEN domains suggests a possible role in organization of viral DNA during replication or transcription. Plays an essential role in the inhibition of the cGAS-dependent type I IFN induction in host dendritic cells. Mechanistically, abolishes cGAMP production by triggering host CGAS degradation via a proteasome-dependent mechanism.
