Catalyzes the reversible isomerization of D-mannose to D-fructose. Shows weaker activity on D-lyxose, but cannot use N-acetyl D-glucosamine.

Activity regulation
Significantly inhibited by divalent metal ions such as Cu2+, Cd2+ or Ca2+.
