Annotation score:4 out of 5

The annotation score provides a heuristic measure of the annotation content of a UniProtKB entry or proteome. This score cannot be used as a measure of the accuracy of the annotation as we cannot define the ‘correct annotation’ for any given protein.

-Protein inferred from homologyi
This indicates the type of evidence that supports the existence of the protein. Note that the ‘protein existence’ evidence does not give information on the accuracy or correctness of the sequence(s) displayed.

This section provides any useful information about the protein, mostly biological knowledge.
Functioni

Catalyzes the ATP-dependent amidation of the two carboxylate groups at positions a and c of cobyrinate, using either L-glutamine or ammonia as the nitrogen source.UniRule annotation
Catalyzes the synthesis of alpha-ribazole-5'-phosphate from nicotinate mononucleotide (NAMN) and 5,6-dimethylbenzimidazole (DMB).UniRule annotationSAAS annotation

Miscellaneous

The a and c carboxylates of cobyrinate are activated for nucleophilic attack via formation of a phosphorylated intermediate by ATP. CbiA catalyzes first the amidation of the c-carboxylate, and then that of the a-carboxylate.UniRule annotation

This subsection of the ‘Function’ section provides information relevant to cofactors. A cofactor is any non-protein substance required for a protein to be catalytically active. Some cofactors are inorganic, such as the metal atoms zinc, iron, and copper in various oxidation states. Others, such as most vitamins, are organic.
Cofactori

This subsection of the ‘Family and domains’ section provides general information on the biological role of a domain. Several domains are described in this subsection.
Domaini

Comprises of two domains. The C-terminal domain contains the binding site for glutamine and catalyzes the hydrolysis of this substrate to glutamate and ammonia. The N-terminal domain is anticipated to bind ATP and cobyrinate and catalyzes the ultimate synthesis of the diamide product. The ammonia produced via the glutaminase domain is probably translocated to the adjacent domain via a molecular tunnel, where it reacts with an activated intermediate.UniRule annotation
