Catalyzes the first step in the biosynthesis of ornithine lipids, which are phosphorus-free membrane lipids. Catalyzes the 3-hydroxyacyl-acyl carrier protein-dependent acylation of ornithine to form lyso-ornithine lipid (LOL).
